PolkaDotGals Campaign

Model Bianca Embley launched the PolkaDotGals after developing Fibromyalgia following an accident whilst working as a flight attendant for Virgin Atlantic. Her aim is to raise awareness of Fibromyalgia, specifically in the press and media, but also by supporting awareness campaigns through UK Fibromyalgia charities and organizations. As part of this, relationships are being developed with both the business community and Fibromyalgia specialists around the world.

In 2008 the PolkaDotGals embarked on their first major campaign a 2009 Calendar, shot by renowned London photographer, Luke Varley. The Calendar together with a documentary about the PolkaDotGals, marked the launch of the PolkaDotGals officially in November 2008 at a star studded event. Model Danni Wells, Championship 100m hurdler Sara McGreavy, America's Cup sailor, David Carr and Coventry City footballers were all photographed with sufferers for the part-nude calendar. 'PolkaDotGals' is supported by leading Fibromyalgia specialists and Political support comes from Shadow Minister for Higher Education and Reading East MP, Rob Wilson. The PolkaDotGals are proud to be working with the American National Fibromyalgia association and the European Network of Fibromyalgia.

The campaign is constantly looking at ways of promoting Fibromyalgia. In November 2007 the PolkaDotGals were invited to Parliament and took the opportunity to hold a press shoot outside the House's.

Having already gained major national media coverage in the likes of Publications such as She, Cosmopolitan and Bella Magazine, Five News and The Mirror, Express and The Sun, this aggressive campaign continues, together with, our national and international relations and investigations into all the latest cutting edge medical research. We live in hope of making a real difference to sufferer's lives and placing Fibromyalgia firmly in the spotlight.

A Statement From Director, Bianca Embley:

Approximately 3 million or 1 in 25 people in the UK suffer from Fibromyalgia. However medical experts estimate there could be millions of more cases. As a result of this one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world is spending $30 million on promoting a drug to help manage the condition.

Fibromyalgia is as common as rheumatoid arthritis and can even be more painful, leaving sufferers crippled with pain and fatigue 24 hours a day for the rest of their lives. There is no cure. . I created the PolkaDotGals campaign in support of the chronic condition Fibromyalgia after many years of struggling with this devastating illness.

At 31, I was registered disabled, unable to return to work and requiring full-time care. After ten years of researching the condition and seeing specialists around the world, it became apparent to me that in order for Fibromyalgia to get the recognition it deserves there needed to be a strong brand for Fibromyalgia and a strong campaign within the press and media.

The condition can be caused by something as simple as a whiplash injury, due to its unbearable symptoms the suicide rate is at an all time high.” Fibromyalgia awareness is in desperate need of sponsorship, endorsement and patrons.
