The PolkaDotGals Calendar Campaign
for Fibromyalgia Awareness
is being supported by a number of celebrities from the worlds of sport and modelling who will appear in the
PolkaDotGals 2009 Calendar.
Model Danni Wells, 21, has featured on the cover of magazines in the UK and abroad, including Maxim, Zoo and Playboy, as well in the trendsetting fashion bible i-D.
Her grandmother, Janet Farr, has Fibromyalgia and runs the Coventry Fibromyalgia Support Group, giving Danni a personal interest in the condition.
Danni has helped to generate a lot of publicity for the campaign and took part in the photo-shoot outside the Houses of Parliament on November 15 2007.
The America’s Cup is one of the top events of the yacht-racing world and, since winning the Youth Match racing Championships aged 18, David has sailed with three America’s Cup teams: GBR Challenge, Victory Challenge, and now TEAMORIGIN, Britain’s entry for the next America’s Cup.
David was delighted to be able to help raise awareness of Fibromyalgia by appearing in the calendar.
Coventry City Football Club’s team captain Michael Doyle and player Elliott Ward both appear in the calendar. They also took part in a press shoot at Coventry City’s Ricoh Arena stadium, where they were filmed and photographed with Danni Wells, generating newspaper and TV coverage of the PolkaDotGals Campaign.
Michael Doyle, 26, a midfielder, is Coventry City’s captain and a Republic of Ireland B Squad International player. Elliott Ward, 23, is a highly rated central defender and in 2006 became Coventry City’s first £1 million transfer for five years.
25 year old Sara McGreavy, is an English and UK international hurdler who has supported the campaign from quite early on, joining Danni, Bianca and others in the photo-shoot outside the Houses of Parliament on November 15 2007.
Sara currently runs for the Sale Harriers athletics club and is coached by the well known Graham Knight. In 2007, Sara became the British Number 1 over 60m hurdles, gaining her a place at the 2007 European Indoor Championships in Athletics where she reached the final. Sara got the 2008 indoor season off to a good start by finishing 2nd in the UK Indoor Championship.
