DANNI WELLS TO HELP RAISE THE PROFILE OF FIBROMYALGIA
On Thursday 15th of November at 12 midday in the Old Palace Yard in Westminster, Bianca Embley will be joined by Page Three model Danni Wells, international championship hurdler Sara McGreavy and 9 other stunning girls for a photo-shoot to help raise the profile of Fibromyalgia in the UK.
Each girl will wear a miniskirt in the colours of the campaign, yellow polkadots, together with a white T-shirt onto which will be printed a single large letter so that when standing in a line they will spell out: "Fibromyalgia".
The campaign has already attracted the support of Shadow Higher Education Minister Rob Wilson MP and after the photo-shoot on the 15th, Bianca will join the All Party Parliamentary Group, which is looking at ways to help sufferers of Fibromyalgia, after the photo-call.
Bianca Embley, the organiser of the PolkaDotGals campaign, is a 31-year-old model and long-term sufferer of Fibromyalgia who is aiming to raise the profile of this debilatating condition. She has launched the PolkaDotGals campaign which is supported by Danni Wells; championship 100m hurdler Sara McGreavey; David Carr, America's Cup sailor, and Coventry City footballers, who will all be featured in the PolkaDotGals 2009 calendar.
Bianca, who has been a sufferer since the age of 21, is very keen to generate the support of the business community to provide sponsorship to help the campaign to reach as wide an audience as possible.
The calendar is being shot by leading UK photographers who have all donated their time free of charge. The campaign is also being supported by a wide range of companies including Apollo Cinemas, Birmingham Rep Theatre, Stone the Crows, Exasoft Plc, Antika New Media, Wildmoor Spa & Health Club, Coventry City FC and Episode Hotels.
In explaining why she is so passionate about raising awareness Bianca explains:
"Up to 2 million people in the UK suffer with Fibromyalgia, but there could be up to 10 million cases as less than 20% of sufferers are officially diagnosed. One of the most common causes can be from whiplash and a growing number of people are literally suffering in silence, which is why support is desperately needed."
